The Anacondrai Cultists were followers of the Villainous Master Chen and served as the main antagonists of the Fourth Season, the "Tournament of Elements". Master Chen, the Cult's Leader, was a dangerous Villain who sparked the original Serpentine War years ago. After his exile, Chen built a Noddle House and a Cult of Followers who worshiped the Anacondrai, the most powerful of all Snake Tribes. The motive of the Anacondrai Cultists was to use the Elemental Powers of the Elemental Masters to transform themselves into a new Army of Fake Anacondrai Warriors. Clouse lured the Elemental Masters to Chen's Island for the Tournament of Elements, where the "losers" had their powers stolen with the Staff of Elements. To make the Transformation Spell Permanent, the essence of the Last Anacondrai survivor, Pythor, was required. The Cultists with their Fake Anacondrai forms returned to Ninjago to exact revenge. The ultimate plan, driven by the Anacondrai creed, "Only one can remain", was to restart the Serpentine War and conquer all of Ninjago. Ultimately, Garmadon's sacrifice freed the spirits of the True Anacondrai Generals, who cursed the Cultists for their mockery and banished them to the Cursed Realm.
