In Ninjago Season 9, Hunted, the main storyline for the stranded Ninja involves surviving in the Realm of Oniand Dragons and escaping the dangerous Dragon Hunters.  The hunters, originally led by Iron Baron, are a tribal group who's entirely built around hunting Dragons for resources and their Elemental Powers.  They use Vengestone Weapons to conquer the Dragons and view the Firstbourne, the mother of all Dragons, as a legend, with the Dragon Armor in her nest as their ultimate prize.

The Dragon Hunters are the primary antagonists in the First Realm during Ninjago Season 9.  Iron Baron was a manipulative former Leader who sought to control Firstbourne with the Dragon Armor to gain power and perceived protection from the Oni.  Faith (known as Heavy Metal to the hunters) was the second-in-command, a skilled General who eventually turned against Iron Baron and became the new Leader, leading the hunters to ally with the Ninja.  Jet Jack served as a high-ranking hunter with a jet pack and a fierce demeanor, later becoming the second-in-command to Faith.  Daddy No Legs was a Hunter-General who used a spider-like mech due to having lost his legs.  Muzzle was a hunter who spoke in a muffled voice and was rarely seen without Daddy No Legs, communicating in grunts.  Chew Toy had an incredible sense of smell and served as the warm-up act in "The Pit" arena where Dragons or captives were forced to fight.  Arkade was the mechanic, providing parts and tools based on a slot machine on his chest.  Scar the Skullbreaker was a male hunter and was mentioned to have a friend in the Dangerbuff clan.  The core plot of the Dragon Hunters' side of the story involved their capture of the stranded Kai, Jay, Zane and the young Wu, whom they used as bait to lure Dragons.  Iron Baron believed the Ninja were Oni and forced them to battle in the arena, where their Elemental Powers were revealed.  The main goal for the Baron was to find the fabled Firstbourne's nest, the home of the mother of all Dragons, which contained the powerful Dragon Armor.  Iron Baron pressured Wu into leading him to the nest, but Wu revealed the armor only responded to the good-hearted, resulting in the Baron's defeat by the Firstbourne in a molten rock.  The Ninja then befriended Firstbourne and the other Dragons, using them and the Dragon Armor to return to Ninjago and fight Lord Garmadon.
