Karlof interacts with a significant number of characters throughout his appearances. Additionally, the Elemental Masters Skylor, Ash, Gravis, Griffin Turner, Jacob Pevsner, Bolobo, Chamille, Neuro, Shade, Tox, and Mr.Pale are in the Tournament of Elements. Further interacting with his fellow competitors on the ferry to Chen's Island, including Kai and Cole. He has a notable rivalry with Kai and forms a close friendship with Cole while working in Chen's Noodle Factory. Karlof and Skylor go from enemies to allies, fighting together against her father, Master Chen. In addition to working with Dareth, he's apart of the Resistance during Lord Garmadon's takeover of Ninjago City. He starts out an antagonist toward Kai and Master Chen, but Karlof's actions in the Resistance show his growing resilience and loyalty. He defends Dareth from Mr. E during the Hunted Season, further cementing his heroic status. Ultimately, he finds redemption from learning friendship and fighting for a greater cause with his allies.
